ASHTANGA PRIMARY SERIES: MAKING SENSE OF THE SEQUENCE WHAT IS IT ABOUT THE PRIMARY SERIES THAT MAKES IT WORK? with Scot Hendricks Sunday, November 5th, 1:00-3:30pm

Many people come to the Primary Series of Ashtanga yoga through a random assortment of instructed classes, which may only get about half way through the series, maybe to Navasana, or perhaps selecting only the most accessible postures from throughout. If you’re intrigued by the Ashtanga system, you might soon find yourself in a led full primary class, at which point the practice becomes even more challenging and seemingly crazy. So it’s understandable that there is confusion about the basic mechanics of how to get in and out of the postures, as well as various inabilities to contort into the prescribed shapes.

This workshop aims to clarify some of the confusion and provide skillful means for you to work sensibly in your practice. By mapping out the progression and the thematic variation between postures, we can gain a deeper  understanding of the individual poses and the vinyasa that connect them. A greater appreciation of the logic of Ashtanga system at various levels of the practice (breath, posture, concentration) may provide practitioners with a sense of purpose and progress and help them avoid injury.

all workshops are non-refundable within 1 week of the event
