Garland of Ragas is an 8-session exploration of various ragas from the classical music traditions of India. Each session will include a sound meditation, discussion of a particular raga, focused listening of classic recordings, live sitar performance, and Q&A. Over the eight sessions we will explore ragas such as Yaman, Bhairavi, Desh, Kirwani, Shri and Bihag. All are welcome at any session on a drop in basis.


Srinivas Reddy is a scholar, translator and musician. He studied classical sitar in the traditional guru-shishya style with Sri Partha Chatterjee, disciple of the late sitar maestro Pandit Nikhil Banerjee. He also trained in classical South Asian languages and literatures at Brown University (BA) and UC Berkeley (MA, PhD). He has released three independent CDs and published three books with Penguin Books. Srinivas is Visiting Professor of Religious Studies and Contemplative Studies at Brown University.
