Elephants at Ngorongoro Crater
This retreat offers a magical safari experience enriched with an immersion into Maasai culture. Our travel will be rooted in the seva (selfless service) of our lovely hosts, doctors who have created medical, social and educational projects in the community. Overall, this is a special opportunity for a yoga retreat that fosters connection to the local community and reverence for the natural majesty and animals of Tanzania.
The retreat will be held at Africa Amini Life, in their original Maasai lodge with sweeping views of Mount Kilimanjaro (including from our yoga shala!). This experience invites deep cultural immersion by connecting with Maasai traditions, volunteering alongside staff, engaging with schoolchildren, and supporting the local medical initiatives.
In the middle of our stay, the journey expands into the wild heart of Tanzania with a 4-night, 5-day safari through two of Africa’s most iconic landscapes. We’ll visit the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site Ngorongoro Crater, home to the big 5 including one of the densest populations of lions and rhinos. We’ll also safari in the vast plains of Tarangire National Park, with a high density of elephants and animals attracted by its water source. Days are shaped by the rhythms of the land with early morning game drives, wide open horizons, and the quiet awe of witnessing wildlife in its natural habitat. After the safari we return back to Amini to unwind and recharge.
Opportunities to volunteer and even extend your trip to offer educational, medical or physical services can be organized. We will be organizing fundraisers and collecting donations ahead of this trip.

Cultural Awareness
Tanzania is rich in tradition, hospitality, and community-centered living. Modest dress is appreciated in villages, and greetings are an important part of connection. Among the Maasai, there is a deep reverence for land, lineage, and ritual. This experience invites not observation alone, but respectful exchange—rooted in humility and curiosity.
